This Australian megastar has performed in front of millions of viewers and a “Sea of Flags” at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, as well as in front of billions of viewers at the 2014 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony. Now, Jessica Mauboy will perform at the London Eurovision Party 2018 hosted in the iconic Café de Paris venue in Leicester Square on April 5th ahead of her trip to Lisbon in May!
A career spanning over a decade
Jessica rose to prominence in 2006 after finishing as runner-up on season four of Australian Idol. Two years later, after signing with Sony Music Australia, Darwin-born Mauboy released her first solo studio album “Been Waiting” which spawned her first #1 single “Burn”. During her career so far, Jessica has released three platinum-selling studio albums as well as three soundtrack albums, two of which hit the #1 spot.
With 21 top 40 singles, including 9 top 10 smashes, Jessica is arguably Australia’s most popular female popstar. Nevertheless, music isn’t her only talent. Jessica has undertaken several high profile acting roles, including a lead role in “The Sapphires” in 2012 which earned her multiple acting awards.
A triple threat
In 2016, Jessica moved from movies to television with a starring role in Australian drama series “The Secret Daughter”. A massive success, the show recently aired its second season and both soundtrack albums spawned by the series have hit the top 2 in the Australian album charts.
Now Jessica is ready to take on the world with her Eurovision Song Contest 2018 entry “We Got Love” which immediately hit #1 on the Australian iTunes chart upon release last week. As described by SBS, “We Got Love” is “an uplifting power anthem written by DNA Songs (David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii) in collaboration with Jessica”.
We can’t wait to see her on the London Eurovision Party stage, to sing her track live to hundreds of Eurovision fans for the very first time.
